New names added: Modeselektor, Acid Arab, DJ Koze, Boys Noize plus many more

Eleven new names have been added to the line-up or Sónar Athens, raising the total number of acts for the inaugural Greek edition of the festival to twenty.

The new additions include marquee names Modeselektor, Acid Arab, DJ Koze, Boys Noize, up and comers  HAAi and Patrick Topping and the best of the contemporary avant- garde with Caterina Barbieri, Tim Hecker, Rival Consoles and Shigeto.

Acclaimed acts and electronica superstars play Greece for the first time

In 2019 Modeselektor, one half of Moderat and probably the most open-minded DJ /producer duo on the planet, released their first  new album in 8 years: “Who Else” showcases their diversity and effortless skill with techno. They will perform live in Athens for the first time as part of Sónar Athens .

This has been DJ Koze's year: his “Knock Knock” LP was included in numerous Best Albums of 2018 lists and he was voted “Best Electronica/Downtempo DJ”  at the prestigious DJ Awards.

Patrick Topping has been going from strength to strength, carving a reputation as the contemporary face of British house and techno. He will perform for the first time in Athens.

Acid Arab, the French duo who have created a whole genre with their blend of Middle-Eastern vibes and acid house, will perform live for the first time in Greece.

Always questing and unclassifiable, Tim Hecker is one of the most avant-garde artists of our era, as he continues to explore the borders of ambient music for two decades.  

Having won the BBC Essential Mix of the Year 2018 for her incredible leftfield techno and house mix, HAAi will visit Athens for the first time.

Boys Noize, head of the famed same-titled record label and one of the guardians of innovative techno. will perform for the first time in Greece.

John Talabot, the creator of “ƒIN”, one of the most impressive albums of the current decade, returns to Athens after five years.

Caterina Barbieri will perform her hypnotic, minimalistic modular patterns, for the first time in Greece. She will present her Time Blind a/v show with Ruben Spini.
 
Rival Consoles has the ability to create machine made music that is full of emotions. His “Persona” album, inspired by the Ingmar Bergman's movie, was one of the most lauded of the last year. He will perform live.

Shigeto returns to Athens after six years to perform live his unique pastiche of jazz, leftfield electronica and hiphop.
